The image above is the current style black on white. We will have a date stamped sign up sheet at the booth so the signs will go to first come first served.
The city has been gradually replacing our old white with black lettering neighborhood street signs for our new state-mandated reflective signs which are green with white lettering.
US Department of transportation federal highway administration has enacted a minimum sign reflectivity requirement that all cities must comply with.
Instead of scrapping the old signs citizens can now purchase them from the fountain Valley historical Society to help raise funds for this nonprofit. They make for great and unusual gifts.
For now the price is $25 for the signs inside the housing tracts, $40 for the larger signs for the streets outside of the tracts i.e. Brookhurst, Warner, Euclid etc. Eventually we may go to an auction format but until then we are selling these as first come first served. If the street you are interested in has not been changed yet from white to green, you can reserve your request by emailing Danngibb@gmail.com We have been taking requests for a couple of years so just know that all requests are dated to ensure first-come first-served. There were a few neighborhoods that were changed out before we started this program and those signs were scrapped.

1. a regularly updated website or webpage, typically one run by an individual that is written in an informal or conversational style. " God, I just love google ".
Yep, stuff.
Hats, history and happenings, books and buttons, shirts, stickers, stories and more.
Just stuff some folks might be interested in.
My name is Dann. Although I currently live in old towne Orange, my heart stays in FV. I lived in Huntington Beach from 1964 to 1970 when we moved to FV. Some reasons for this web site. 1. I love history. 2. I have a great memory. 3. I have a horrible memory and needed a place to put my research. 4. My wife keeps reminding me how much time and money (on ebay) I spend on my "hobby".
Keep up with what's happening in town and book a session with the best photographer around.
Come to one of our luncheons, have some food and look around, come and learn some history about your town.
An important piece of our local and national history needs your help. Just check out the site and watch the video and I'm sure you'll agree.
This community is directly tied to ours and this book is not only a great resource of information but also a fascinating American story.
With 4th of July right around the corner some of our first products are sporting the stars and stripes
Slowly but surely the city is replacing all the street signs in the city and allowing us to give them to anyone (non-residents too) who donate to the Historical Society. We've started out with the inner tract signs at $25.00 and the larger main street signs like Warner,Slater, Bushard etc. at $40.00 Eventually the signs will be sold auction style. There is NO set time frame for replacement so check back with us for the updated list on the signs we have in stock.
Working on some projects about our schools both current and those schools that have been swapped for houses. We need photos of yearbook covers and front shots of the schools from as far back as possible. Also, any contact information for teachers that were there during the first years of operation.
Check the events calendar to see where our next booth location will be !

I'm dedicating this web-site to a couple of my fountain Valley favorites. Those of you who knew them know why I would. For those who didn't know them, just ask.
" Hi Mrs. Eadie ! " I'd say from time to time when bumping into her around town and the response would be " call me Rosemary ". Nope, can't do it. Now when I was a punky 5th grader at Plavan elementary school I would have taken that offer but that offer didn't happen for a few decades. Crowned Miss Fountain Valley in 1969 Mrs. Eadie spent 38 years with our school district.
Jim and I met at Imperial health spa on magnolia and talbert in the 1970's. Going to FVHS football games with this former NFL player was quite an experience. I was going to write a couple of paragraphs about Jim here but it just wouldn't do justice to this mans life. It would take a book or better yet a movie. I've never met a nicer man.
